Creative and clever wedding photo booth ideas

Your wedding day goes by in a flash. Before you know it, the vows have been said, the cake has been cut, and you’re waving goodbye to the last of your guests. Though the memories will (hopefully!) last forever, the day itself disappears quickly.

Get creative with backdrops

A photo booth backdrop sets the tone for the photos and ties directly into your wedding theme or colors. Skip the generic curtain backdrop and get imaginative! Some creative ideas include:

  • Maps or travel posters – Showcase your sense of adventure, especially if you met while traveling or are jetting off on an exotic honeymoon.
  • Flower wall – Construct a wall of faux blooms in your wedding hues for romantic photos with plenty of pop.
  • Chalkboard – Supply chalk and have guests leave messages, drawings, or marriage advice on the board.
  • Books – Stack old books and wrapped parcels for a cozy, literary vibe. Scatter bookmarks and reading glasses as props!
  • Neon signs – Add a fun, trendy backdrop with colorful neon writing, like “Sealed with a Kiss” or the bride and groom’s names.

Set the scene with props

Props encourage your guests to get silly and creative during their photo booth session. Go beyond basic props like oversized glasses and hats – get unique to match your wedding style! Fun-themed prop ideas include:

  • Tropical wedding – Leis, floral crowns and sleeves, pineapples and coconuts
  • Rustic wedding – Hay bales, flower crowns, bandanas, cowboy hats, mason jars
  • Literary wedding – Books, bookmarks, fancy pens and eyeglasses
  • Beach wedding – Nautical props like ropes, life preservers, sand pails plus ocean-themed hats
  • Masquerade wedding – Feather boas, elaborate masks and fans

You also match other décor elements, like your wedding colors. Display bold parasols in your palette shades or gewgaws showcasing your monogram.

Amp up booth style

Today’s photo booths come in all shapes and sizes. Up the wow factor by choosing a snap-booth style that shows off your personality or complements your wedding aesthetic.

  • Vintage camper or trailer – Ideal for rustic, boho, or retro weddings and great for outdoor spaces
  • Open-air booth – Ditch the enclosed space for a backdrop and props against any pretty wedding locale
  • Photo booth “tent” – Hang fabric draping to create a whimsical space, perfect for garden weddings
  • Upcycled props – Set up an old frame, door, or window with your backdrop for a repurposed look

Beyond the standard photo strip

When it comes to photo booth prints, feel free to forgo the classic 2×6 photo strip. Explore all of the custom products you create using guests’ photobooth pictures, like:

  • Signature puzzle guestbook – Assemble a dimensional puzzle made from different photo booth images
  • Photo balloon – Blow up a giant balloon with a photo montage covering the surface
  • Photo coaster set – Send guests home with a set of drink coasters flaunting their photo booth moments
  • Photo magnet favour – Guests will love these cute take-home favors displaying their faces
  • Photo exhibit – Pin up all the photo booth pictures for guests to admire and take home prints

You also print multiple sizes of photos like 4×6 or 5×7 prints that will be easier for your guests to take home. Displaying some of the snaps during the reception is also a nice touch to inspire even more photo booth memories!
